Peter Johansen

Peter Johansen (b. 1974) earned his degree from the Danish Design School in 2004 and
has since worked with clients both in Denmark and abroad. With a strong connection to the Scandinavian countries, he often finds inspiration from the values and characteristics of the Scandinavian design tradition.

He has always approached design with curiosity, freely exploring different techniques
and materials to uncover their individual qualities and characteristics. His work process is informal and intuitive – sometimes involving long detours, but never shortcuts.

Peter Johansen describes his work as the desire to create furniture and pieces for people like you and me. Professionally, he always strives to unite the immediate energy of a fresh sketch with classic craftsmanship and industrial precision.

Function is always the basis of his projects. It is through interaction with the furniture or object that its true purpose becomes evident. He believes that understanding construction is the key to revealing an object’s inner beauty and functionality.

Function, construction, and aesthetics must be carefully balanced. The goal is to create clarity and harmony in the finished design – similar to a clear font that remains easy to read from far away.
